Happy New Year

For many years one of my New Year traditions was a 5 km run followed by breakfast with friends. In temperatures ranging from near freezing to -20 C, or there abouts, we would navigate through ice and snow for an invigorating start to the year.

2016-01-01 10.13.06Today I tried a different start to the year.  The “Hangover 100” is an informal local cycling tradition which offers both a 100 mile ride or a 60 mile option. Along with cycling friends Dario and Victor, I started off from a cycling shop in Palm Desert for the ride to Mecca and back. It was a beautiful morning for the ride and a great start to the year. For those contemplating the ride for another year, the actual distance was 54 miles.

Over the past few years, since starting this blog with my account of the Tour du Canada, I have tried to share some of the adventures, activities, and beautiful scenery I have been privileged to experience. Hopefully my photography in some way portrays the beauty of what I see. We live on a pretty amazing planet!

I already have some great adventures planned for 2016. I look forward to sharing those throughout the year.

To all my friends and readers, I wish you a Happy, Prosperous, and Peaceful New Year.
