Vancouver Island and the islands between it and the mainland offer some stunning seascapes. A year earlier, in April 2024, I captured some images from the southern coast of Vancouver Island, near Port Renfrew. On this trip, I photographed in the Parksville and Hornby Island areas. In this second of my three-part series, I share some of my favorite seascape images from this recent trip.

The coastal area of British Columbia is dotted with marinas serving both commercial fishermen and recreational boaters. The French Creek Marina is one such marina.

Seascapes can range from crashing, raging seas to peaceful, idyllic scenes. The photo set below could best be described as tranquil.

I was a minute or two late with the scene below. By the time I took the photo, the god beams had started to fade. But its still a nice image.

The patterns on this rock create something of an abstract.

Do you see a crocodile or giant lizard crawling towards the water below?

To finish off, here’s two shots of the same rock. The one on the left is full of energy, the one on the right is extremely tranquil. Different shutter speeds give entirely different feels to the scene.

Next up: waterfalls.
