As usual, I am playing catchup with my posts.

On one of our many beautiful Fall days, I decided to take a little drive in the countryside to capture some Fall colors. On the Alberta prairies, we tend not to get the wide range of colors that they get in Eastern Canada. Our Fall palate tends towards shades of yellow with the occasional bit of red.

Early in my travels, I encountered some geese in a field. At first glance, I thought they were Canada Geese, but on second look I saw that they bore little resemblance to my country’s namesake. Using my bird app, I identified them as Greater White-fronted Geese. I had never seen them before and learned that we were on the edge of their migration route from their summer breeding grounds in the high Arctic to their wintering grounds on the Gulf Coast and into Mexico. My drive continued past farm fields with golden windrows contrasted against green grass and red granaries.

My final image doesn’t show the Fall colors, but I like it anyway!
