It’s been a couple of years since I have been out to Elk Island National Park, just east of Edmonton. So, a couple of days ago, I decided it was time to make an early spring visit. A couple of the roads I would have liked to check out were closed, presumably for the winter. Still, it was a nice morning for a little drive through the park.
The small lakes and ponds were still frozen over. In the image below, trees are reflected in the smooth ice.

I saw these two Canada Geese on the ice and it made me think of the expression “getting cold feet”!

I did come across a couple of bison. Normally, many more are visible. I may be wrong, but I think they may have been move to closed or more remote areas of the park due to it being calving time. I suspect that by the time I next visit, more will be visible.

Just a quick little update this time.
