At the end of May I attended the Lightchasers Nature Photography Conference in Pincher Creek, Alberta. While the three-day conference involved presentations on a variety of topics during the day, we did have additional time for sunrise and sunset photoshoots. I extended my stay by several days to give myself lots of time to explore a part of Alberta I have never really visited before.
On my way to Pincher Creek, I stopped at Lundbreck Falls. The area around the falls provides a variety of angles to shoot from.

Early the first morning I photographed Bathing Lake. The lake didn’t look too inviting from a bathing perspective, but offered some great reflections of the surrounding mountains.
The abundance of wildflowers in the area made me feel like a kid in a candy shop. I had to return later in the afternoon to photograph more flowers at a nearby lake.

The next morning it was off to Castle Falls with stops along the way to shoot more scenery and wildflowers. The falls were not all that spectacular but the wild flowers in the area certainly were.
Following the conference, I spent another two days on my own, exploring the area further. More on that in Part Two.
