Followers of my blog know that I often extoll the virtues of St. Albert Botanic Park, one of the city’s hidden gems. In early and mid-May I paid a couple of visits to see what was blooming. I was surprised at the number blooms at a time when things were just starting to grow in my own backyard.

One flower that definitely says springtime is the tulip. The park did not disappoint as the tulips were definitely blooming.




Unfortunately, I don’t know most of the flower names. So I will present a selection based on color.
Here is a group of purple flowers:





And the yellow category:




And finally the whites. I do know that the one on the left is a Bearded Iris. On the right is an apple blossom.
And then there’s “spike” …

And because I like playing around with abstracts, here are a couple:


The gardens are definitely a peaceful place to stroll around or to just sit and enjoy the view.


Later in May I did have some blooms appearing in my backyard. Here is a selection of what was appearing.





Surprisingly, flowers often look beautiful in black and white. I leave you with this high key version.
